“What do you see as the greatest asset we have on the Redcliffe Peninsula and why?”

The Redcliffe Peninsula is real paradise, fantastic weather basically all year round.
Being surrounded by water helps keep it a couple of degrees warmer in winter and a couple of degrees cooler in summer than our Brisbane neighbours, with fresh ocean breezes that sweep across the bay.
Our Council have done a wonderful job over the years, helping beautify our waterfronts. The Lagoon is a wonderful asset and you can tell particularly on weekends how many people are from elsewhere, coming to enjoy our markets and seashore and friendly atmosphere.
Our boat ramps are first class and our Marina is about to get a terrific overhaul. Redcliffe’s Golf Course is among the best in South East Queensland and sport has always been a massive part in Peninsula life, with many champions having represented our country across many sports. We at the Dolphins take pride in supporting as many sports as we can, particularly Juniors.

It’s definitely the people and our relaxed lifestyle that are the Peninsula’s greatest assets.
At age 21, I saved up my money from my first job and bought a home here in Redcliffe. What drew me here all those years ago is still what I love about this place – it’s that feeling we get when we’re driving home over the bridge, looking out to Redcliffe. It’s a feeling of coming home.
One of the incredible assets we have is our tight-knit community. We’re home to some of the most warming and welcoming people who always stop to say hello. I’ve been truly fortunate to work closely with a range of amazing volunteers in my role at council including the Redcliffe PCYC, our amazing Rotary and Lions Clubs, and of course the mighty Redcliffe Dolphins. They all do incredible work in our community.
I’m also proud to work alongside our assets in the business community, including alongside MBRIT (Moreton Bay Region & Industry) and see a strong economic future for our region through encouraging great events like our weekly Jetty Markets, a range of amazing festivals (including the newly launched Food and Wine Festival) and ongoing promotion of our tourism economy that is bringing over 3 million visitors and almost $1 billion in tourism expenditure to our region.

This is a tough question to answer. The Redcliffe Peninsula is a wonderful place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
Our spectacular festivals and new infrastructure like the Redcliffe Peninsula Line and the proposed barge from Scarborough to Moreton Island is helping drive this Moreton Bay Region’s tourism economy which is now a billion dollar industry. Our small business owners help keep our community growing.
Above and beyond all else, Redcliffe stands out because of the dedicated army of volunteers in our community. They work in the kitchen at Meals on Wheels, they staff our visitor information centres, provide assistance to patients and families at the Redcliffe Hospital and others keep us safe, such as the volunteers cloaked in the familiar high-vis uniforms of the SES. An amazing number of locals volunteer their time in our community and they are our greatest asset.

I love living on the Redcliffe Peninsula, and feel incredibly privileged to represent this area as part of the Federal electorate of Petrie.
My family and I have created so many memories on the Redcliffe Peninsula. Being able to go mud crabbing with my Dad, a joy I now share with my own boys, and fishing with family in Bramble Bay, truly define the amazing Redcliffe lifestyle.
It’s the locals who make Redcliffe great. Our local volunteers truly embody the meaning of ‘community’. By working together to promote this incredible place we call home, we make sure our entire community is supported. Our Meals on Wheels, Surf Life Saving Club, and PCYC volunteers are just some of the amazing volunteers who are dedicating their time to make the Peninsula such a great place to live.
The relationships I have built with many extraordinary people in our community, who give so much to our area, continually inspire me.
