Sip on some sweetness this Valentine’s Day with Pineapple and Strawberry Fizz.

INGREDIENTS

• 250ml pineapple juice
• 250g strawberries without hull
• 750ml bottle dry sparkling wine (soda water or lemonade will also work)

Method:

  1. Add pineapple juice and strawberries to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth (est. 1 min).
  2. Pass through a sieve to remove strawberry seeds.
  3. Half fill a champagne or cocktail glass with pineapple/strawberry mixture.
  4. Top with sparkling wine, soda water or lemonade.
  5. Enjoy responsibly!

Ever wondered how Valentine’s Day is celebrated around the world? The well-known day of love can look a little different from place to place.

THE PHILIPPINES: Valentine’s Day is often a day of mass weddings in the Philippines, where hundreds and sometimes thousands tie the knot in unison. These events are often supported and sponsored by the Government as a form of community service.
ESTONIA: In Estonia, February 14th is a celebration of friendship rather than romantic love. The event is called ‘Sobrapaev’ which translates as ‘Friendship Day’.

JAPAN: In many countries, it is the women who are provided with gifts on Valentine’s Day however in Japan it is the women who shower the men in chocolate. It is on March 14th that men can choose to then provide gifts to women on a day called ‘White Day’.

GERMANY: You will find pigs aplenty on Valentine’s Day in Germany with the animals being known as a symbol of luck and lust. Couples give each other baked goods in the shape of pigs, pig shaped chocolate and picture and figurines of the pink pig to show their love for each other.

SOUTH KOREA: Not just withheld to the 14th February alone, South Koreans celebrate love on the 14th of EVERY month, including May’s Rose Day, June’s Kiss Day and December’s Hug Day. In April, singles congregate on Black Day, eating black noodles to console themselves.
