For some people living in our local community, Christmas is out of their reach and can become just another day.
It doesn’t have to be however and with a little help, we can all spread Christmas cheer throughout our region and the people who make it what it is. Having been running for more than 10 years, each year the Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT), in partnership with the Moreton Bay Regional Council and Redcliffe Uniting Church, deliver an annual Redcliffe Community Christmas Lunch.
This event provides more than 300 people who are lonely, disadvantaged or fallen on hard times, with a Christmas Day shared with friends. Free to attend, the luncheon serves guests with a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings along with festive entertainment, children’s activities, as well as free transport to and from the event if required. The big man in red himself, Santa Claus, also makes a special appearance providing each child with a gift from under the giant Christmas tree.
To ensure that the most at need have somewhere to go on Christmas Day, the event operates off a referral system from local community groups throughout Redcliffe, Deception Bay and North Lakes. The Community Christmas Lunch is only possible each year thanks to the support and generosity show by the local community.

Help make someone’s Christmas special
If you would like to help spread Christmas cheer throughout our community, here’s a few ways you can lend a hand:
Sponsor a Table
The event is calling for kind-hearted local businesses and organisations to dig deep and help contribute financially by sponsoring a table ($500 plus GST) covering the costs of 10 individuals to enjoy Christmas.
Volunteer
Roll up your sleeves and give back to those in need. The event is seeking helpers to donate their time for a variety of roles including kitchen staff, table hosts and other general tasks.
Donate a Gift
If you would like to help make a child smile on Christmas Day, you can donate a gift that will be given out by Santa. Please label your gift with whether it’s for a boy or girl and the age category (please do not provide anything perishable such as food).
This Christmas, please consider helping to spread Christmas cheer for all the members of our community.
